Raw Milk as Fertilizer

Did you know there is yet another great use for raw milk, and that is as a fertilizer?

I was vaguely aware of this but recently learned more about it. A friend of mine sold some milk to her hay guy and he did an experiment. He had a number of acres and decided to fertilize one acre with raw milk and see what happened. The difference was dramatic. It was obvious from how green the one acre was compared to the other, that it had had something different done to it.

The really cool thing is it doesn’t even have to be raw whole milk, you can go ahead and skim the cream off first. It makes no difference.

So now whenever I have some extra milk I plan on trying it. The problem is I have not had extra milk in ages. And actually I hope people around here don’t catch on because I already have a waiting list a mile long, and just think what would happen if people started to realize you can fertilize with raw milk.

I think my first test subject when I have extra is going to be my fruit trees. Oh did I mention I have a black thumb? Not anywhere near a green thumb. So this will be a very good experiment. I’ll post an update after I test this out but it may be a while. We are as usual searching for another cow but since we shun Jerseys, it is very difficult to find one of our selected breeds (Guernsey or Ayrshire).
