Some people may think it’s just a fad, but the truth is drinking raw milk has many health benefits.
First, what is it anyway? It is very basically milk straight from the cow or goat, not pasteurized, not homogenized. The milk you buy in the grocery store has been heated (pasteurized) and sometimes heated even further (ultra pasteurized) to kill bacteria. Well I just made the mistake of typing out like a 500-word post and managed to lose it. So I will just say we have quite a lot of raw cow milk and raw cream at the moment, and we only have one cow. You would think with only one cow we would not have such a surplus! But right now there are 24 half-gallon jars of cream in the fridge. The spare refrigerator that is. We either need to buy a new fridge or find more to do with the milk. Read more »
Ever look on the container of Coffee Mate and peruse the ingredient list? Kind of icky. I used Coffee Mate in my coffee for years and years, mainly because it’s how I started drinking coffee and I was used to the taste. I actually did not even like cream in my coffee. But ever since we’ve had our cow and I’ve been using real cream, my coffee is so amazing. Read more »

I’m just sitting here enjoying my morning coffee, okay make that afternoon coffee for most people (I’m a night owl), along with my morning (ahem, afternoon) mug of raw milk. Delicious. Yes it most certainly is.
First, let’s think about the large dairies and how they keep their cows. They are kept in feed lots and fed large amounts of grain, and probably have never seen a pasture in their lifetime. Why is this bad? Because a cow is not meant to eat grain, she is meant to eat grass. Period. But the large dairies don’t feed their cows grass because it is inconvenient.
